The Early Intervention Program at The Joshua School offers several service delivery models. The options include:
Comprehensive Program: This classroom features our comprehensive program. Students will receive direct individual and group ABA therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy, as well as group music and art therapy. An IEP is developed for each student and extensive parent/teacher conferences will be held each quarter to review progress on goals. Regular home visits are also offered to each family to develop goals and strategies to achieve goals for the home environment. Weekly community outings are incorporated into this comprehensive program. Outings include locations such as restaurants, grocery stores, parks, recreational centers, etc. In addition to weekly community outings, teachers arrange planned opportunities for interaction with typical peers. Students will spend time working on a variety of goals with a variety of specialty providers. Common goals include increasing school readiness skills, social skills, communication skills, daily living skills (toileting, eating, dressing), motor skills, and increasing appropriate peer and adult interactions. Both full-day and half-day options are available.
Focused Intervention Program: This classroom was created to meet a variety of needs in the community. It is meant to be a more affordable option and serve as a starting point for many students and their families. Students in this classroom will receive high quality early intervention focusing on strategies based on the science and principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. A treatment plan is developed for each student and intervention is delivered in the classroom. Common goals include increasing school readiness skills, social skills, communication skills, daily living skills (toileting, eating, dressing), motor skills, and increasing appropriate peer and adult interactions. Consultation from our SLP and OT are included in this program.
