The Joshua School Opens Expanded Early Childhood Education Facility
New Center Houses Two Separate Programs Forming a Community of Acceptance
Preschool Enrollment Underway
DENVER CO, November 14, 2016 – The Joshua Early Childhood Center (JECC) has moved and expanded into a new facility located in Centennial CO. JECC combines its preschool, Joshua Academy, with its Joshua Early Intervention program that serves children with autism ages two and a half to six years old.
The Joshua School (TJS) began serving children with developmental disabilities in October of 2005, and rapidly grew into one of the most outstanding Facility Schools for autism in the country. The preschool program at The Joshua School, Joshua Early Intervention, began to thrive and in 2011 TJS expanded and established The Joshua Academy providing an integrated model to serve children of all abilities.
“This expansion furthers our ability to help each individual we teach attain the highest quality of life, valuing each mind, body and spirit,” says Ed Nichols, Joshua School executive director. Nichols joined TJS in August of this year from his previous position as CEO of History Colorado. “The Joshua Early Childhood Center grew out of our renowned Early Intervention model to become an all-inclusive setting that serves children between the ages of 2 and 6 years old to form a community that emphasizes acceptance, understanding and character.” JECC houses the Joshua Academy (JA) and Joshua Early Intervention (JEI).
“Integrated preschool models are the gold standard for early intervention in a school setting,” says Jamie Cohen, program director of JEI. (might we say more?)
Joshua Academy is a curriculum-based early childhood learning experience for all children. JA focuses on development in all key areas, including social, emotional, pre-academic and physical. “We place a heavy emphasis on building character, kindness and acceptance through out integrated environment,” says Brooke Losier, program director of Joshua Academy. JA utilizes Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD for assessment and teaching areas such as literacy, arithmetic, and social/emotional development. Enrollment in the preschool program is now underway.
Joshua Early Intervention is a non-profit autism treatment program for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Utilizing the science of Applied Behavior Analysis and 1:1 staff/child ratios, the school has helped children for more than six years make tremendous progress. JEI also is recognized for raising the standards for autism treatment. During an average year, JEI’s program transitions about 80 percent of its graduates with ASD into general education classrooms within their respective home school/public district.
The new Joshua Early Childhood Center is located at 5760 E. Otero Avenue, Centennial, CO 80112. For more information, go www.joshuaearlychildhoodcenter.org, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 720-316-5234.
