Professional Development in the Time of Remote Learning

During remote instruction, TJS staff have had the opportunity to further enhance their knowledge of ABA therapy, as well as a variety of other topics via weekly Staff Development meetings and activities. Many staff worked through the Advanced ABA 40-hour Training through RethinkEd, an online training and curriculum platform and discussions were led by a number of our BCBA Supervisees which provided an excellent training opportunity for everyone involved!

In addition, staff read research articles, watched online webinars and participated in weekly discussions about such topics as Parent Implemented Interventions, Antecedent-Based Interventions, Lesson Planning, and Teaching Facilitated Play. Self-care has been another big focus with staff during this time of separation and change. TED Talks on "How to Be Your Best Self in Times of Crisis" and "A Love Letter to Realism in a Time of Grief" and accompanying exercises focused on self-care and values offered staff the opportunity to share and reflect on their experiences during this time as well as to connect with their co-workers on these topics. Collaboration between the Boulder and Englewood campuses on these topics ensured a rich and meaningful development experience was shared by all.
