Q. What is the Admissions Process?
A. Step 1: Complete the Application for Admission
Step 2: Complete the Intake Assessment. Typically, a prospective student and parents will visit the school and meet with age-specific clinicians. If distance precludes a campus visit, we can arrange to see the student in his or her local setting, typically through a video session.
Step 3: Determine funding. Many of our students are referred to us by local area school districts that cannot meet student needs. Other students are private pay. We always recommend working with your local school district first to determine placement.
Step 4: Identify placement. The Joshua School matches each student to a potential opening based on individual needs. If we cannot guarantee placement within 12 months, we recommend that parents work closely with their home districts to find the most appropriate, alternate placement.
Q. Can I begin the admissions process even if I don’t have a formal approval from my local school district?
A. Parents who are interested can begin the admissions process by completing the application and submitting the support materials. While we believe parents have the right to choose placement and private pay, we always recommend working with your local school district to determine placement and funding.
