Generous Time Off

  • 9 Weeks of Paid School Breaks: 

    • Fall Break (1 week)

Consistent Schedule and Paycheck

  • TJS operates on a school schedule (M-F, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM) with no evenings, weekends, or holiday work required! 

    • You are still paid regardless of student attendance, seat time, census.

    • Our calendar provides 10 paid days for professional development and parent conferences.

 

No Billable Hours

  • We don’t bill through insurance, so you are not responsible for meeting billable hours, nor is your pay dependent on meeting billable hours.

Transdisciplinary Team

  • As a member of our team, you’ll be supported by Special Education Teachers, Behavior Specialists, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Social Worker.

Professional Learning

  • TJS staff members receive access to the full Applied Behavior Analysis and Behavioral Health from Relias, allowing team members to direct their own learning journey. 

    • The Relias Library provide 65 credit hours of BACB-approved CEUs.

Essential Certifications

 

All full-time employees at The Joshua School will receive training and be certified in the following areas at the school’s expense.

  • QBS - Safety Care

    • Safety-Care® promotes a reinforcement-based approach to developing new skills, maintaining safety, and reducing or eliminating restrictive interventions such as restraint. The training improves safety for staff and the individuals they support while reducing the frequency and severity of dangerous incidents.

  • Child and Adult CPR / First Aid / AED

  • Mandatory Reporting

 

Additional Growth Options

 

Special Education Teaching License

  • CU-Denver’s P-TAP Program - no undergraduate degree required

    • CU-D’s Paraprofessional to Teacher Advancement Pathway is designed for those currently working in the classroom. P-TAP will support you with accessing grant funding to make getting your teaching license as affordable as possible.

  • CU-Denver ASPIRE to Teach Program - undergraduate degree required

    • ASPIRE to Teach is a one-year alternative certification program. TJS provides annual scholarships for ASPIRE.

 

Applied Behavior Analysis

  • Become a Registered Behavior Technician - no undergraduate degree required

  • TJS provides free access to the coursework and competency checklist required for RBT certification, as well as reimbursement for your initial RBT exam to eligible employees RBTs also receive an immediate three-step increase in hourly wage (see our Salary Matrix for additional information).

  • Become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst - undergraduate degree required

    • BCBA candidates who have completed or are enrolled in an accredited graduate program are eligible for free supervision hours at TJS, as well as tuition reimbursement (see below).

 

Other Opportunities

  • Tuition Reimbursement

    • TJS provides tuition reimbursement to employees in good standing who have been employed for at least one year and are pursuing higher education in a related field.

  • Qualified Medical Administration Personnel (QMAP) 

    • Many TJS staff members receive additional training to become QMAPs. A QMAP can:

      • Administer medications according to written physician's orders.

      • Maintain proper documentation of the administration of both prescription and non-prescription drugs.

      • Use proper techniques when administering medications by various routes.

      • Safely and accurately fill and administer medications to and from medication reminder boxes with oversight from a licensed person or qualified manager.

  • We’re happy to provide supervision and internship/fieldwork experiences for any related field! We’ve previously worked with staff members pursuing higher education in mental health/counseling/psychology, occupational therapy, and a variety of other disciplines - let us know how you want to grow and we would love to support you.​​
